Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineer – LV POD Program
Role Summary/Purpose
As part of the GEPR Energy Canada team, you will play a significant role in a special project aimed at developing technical solutions for Marine Propulsion. Rotating Machines Peterborough (RMP) Engineering is part of GEPR Energy Canada operations and provides design engineering capability to enable rotating machine product solutions for the full range of the Power Conversion portfolio, such marine, industrial, and energy applications with electrical and mechanical energy conversion systems. You will be working with both the local Engineering team and Global Manufacturing locations to fulfill specific project requirements. The successful candidate will report to the Rotating Machines Services Engineering Leader.

Essential Responsibilities:
- As Rotating Machines Design Engineer, you will:
- Work independently and in cross-functional teams to carry out design activities related to product development
- Develop technical solutions, prepare technical presentations, and provide technical specifications for various product components
- Perform mechanical design calculations and analysis related to component design using a wide variety of engineering tools and CAD software
- Develop 3D models using Pro-E, AutoCAD and perform Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS
- Deliver clear design instructions to CAD designers, review drawings and BOM for quality and interface with manufacturing shop floor to resolve design and manufacturing issues
- Work with external suppliers or third-party contractors and provide engineering support as required for the successful execution of component manufacturing
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor or Advanced Degree in Mechanical /Manufacturing Engineering
- 3 years or more of related experience in design, analysis, manufacturing, and installation of large rotating equipment
New Grad – Engineer (Winter 2023)
Responsibilities:
- You are working towards completion of a relevant Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Nuclear Engineering from a university of recognized standing with an expected graduation date prior to January 2024
- Post-graduate degree(s) will also be considered.
- Must have superior technical written skills and the ability to effectively interface with staff, project management and customers.
- Statistical knowledge is beneficial.
- Ability to understand and consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
- Effective problem solver with a results-oriented approach and ability.
- Strong planning and organization skills, as applied to self-managing multiple, simultaneous work assignments.
- Ability to network, build relationships, and plan, with an orientation toward service, teamwork and collaboration.
Manufacturing Engineer / Technologist
Responsibilities:
- Lead task and project teams
- Participate in shop floor improvement projects, identifying tools and equipment to increase efficiency and capacity.
- Researching, specifying, ordering, implementing, performance testing, and championing the training for new production tooling and equipment.
- Preparing Capital Expenditure requests supported by savings and return on investment calculations.
- Creating and updating engineering drawings and layouts.
- Collecting and analyzing data to identify and justify improvement actions.
- Staying abreast of new technology, manufacturing practices, processes, and equipment
- Promote a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
Requirements:
- Hold a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Program or diploma from a Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to read/interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
- Strong root cause analysis problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD, MS Word, Excel and Project
Assets:
- Holds a valid professional registration with APEGM (P.Eng) or CTTAM (CET)
- 3+ Years Experience
- Analytical thinker capable of “thinking outside the box”
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of basic electrical concepts
- Knowledge of cutting tools
- Knowledge or experience in mechatronics
- Paint / Coating application experience
